Novapaw woke up when it was still dark not even quite dawn yet. She new her mentor would be asleep for another couple hours or so at least. But she couldn't wait she had so much energy burning inside of her she just needed to go for a run and she would make sure she was back before anyone even noticed. She darted out of the entrance giving a flick of her tail to the cat on watch. Once up and out of the ravine she darted up the first tree she found and began running through the tree's, jumping from branch to branch as smoothly and as easily as if she was a squirrel.
The sky began to lighten up and the stars began to disappear as the sun began to rise casting a very faint light over the land. It faint rays bounced off of her fiery red pelt as she ran feeling her muscles in her legs stretch then relax over and over. Her blue eyes shined with laughter as she ran through the trees as she hadn't done since before joining Ravineclan. At point as dawn was is full glow as she liked to call it she spotted a squirrel ahead of her. It spotted her and the chase was on. This would be a great treat for the elders a nice fresh squirrel. It took her five tree's to finally catch up to it, when she did she grabbed it by it's tail and whipped it off the branch. The screech coming from it was loud enough to wake the whole forest. She slapped it hard against the tree dazing it and making it stop screaming. With that she quickly killed it before it could come back to any sense.
Novapaw purred proudly and slowly began her descent. She had burnt off that energy she had that had been humming through her body but she still had a ton more. Maybe she could find something else to hunt to bring back. She quickly dug a hole and buried her kill before wondering off to look for something else this time on the ground.

RAVINESTAR
Ravinestar yawned, a sweet breeze blowing in from the spruce forest, down into the RavineClan camp and into his den. It was morning already. The gray tom stood up and padded out of his den, the sun shining in his yellow eyes and blinding them for a moment. He stood upon the ledge that overlooked the camp, and saw that everything was well and good with his clanmates. 'It is dawn, a border patrol should be heading out soon, as well as a hunting patrol,' the senior leader thought. Then he saw that everything was already being sorted by his deputy, but Ravinestar still wished to contribute; he wanted to do more than just organize patrols and hold clan meetings. Since he knew that it would help the clan survive, Ravinestar bounded across the camp, surely drawing attention to himself from the eyes of clanmates as he was the leader and they all naturally wondered what he was doing. The gray tom pushed his way through the entrance and was outside the ravine camp. 'A little hunting to feed the clan will do them well,' he thought with a kind smile, dashing a ways away from the camp into the spruce forest. He then stopped at a random point, and sunk into a hunter's crouch, careful to be silent. He watched patiently the world around him, looking for any movement in the undergrowth, hoping to find a rabbit as they were very big and nutritious. @firefly

Novapaw sniffed the air closing her eyes, letting the smells of the forest surround her. Her ear twitched there was a mouse nearby. But yet she still didn't move, Novapaw wanted to see what else was close. Wait what was that? A light thump, thump, thump. A RABBIT Her eyes snapped open and she just caught the tail of it hopping away. She didn't think it spotted her so she began to slowly creep forward to it.
She watched as it nibbled on some sweet grass completely oblivious to her. She smiled and darted out of it. It startled and took off and once more the chase was on. She had no idea she was chasing it towards her leader who was also hunting. The rabbit darted this way and that trying to find a way to get away but it didn't work. Novapaw gave a mighty pounce and her claws raked it's back just strong enough to draw blood. It stumbled but was off again. She cursed giving up she was panting and couldn't keep up any more. But as soon as she thought that she heard the scream of a rabbit before it went silent. "Hello?" Who else was out here? Could it be the hunting patrol? It wouldn't surprise her it was about that time. WORDS: 000 NOTES: I figure that Novapaw stopped just on the other side of a bush where Ravinestar was and had chased the rabbit right into her paws.

RAVINESTAR
Ravinestar's ears instantly shifted toward a loud rustling in the bushes right in front of him, and his hackles quivered, ready to pounce if he saw anything edible. A moment later a rabbit exploded out of the bushes and right into his paws, where the gray tom quickly sunk his fangs deeply into the prey, killing it quickly by piercing the neck bone. The taste of its blood made his mouth water, but it was not going to be for him and instead for his hungry clan. He had thought that this rabbit had just stumbled upon him, but that wouldn't make much sense. Most rabbits weren't stupid enough to deliver themselves into a cat's paws and basically beg to be killed. Something must have spooked it, and Ravinestar's suspicion was clarified when he heard the familiar voice of an apprentice from his clan. 'Novapaw,' he recognized her voice. She was the apprentice of his former apprentice Oliveheart, a trustworthy warrior who had taken a bit of guidance and needed direction from him but had turned out very well. He hoped that Novapaw would, too, turn out just like Oliveheart. He stood up and carried the rabbit in his jaws, moving toward the apprentice's voice, emerging from the bushes to stand before her. There was about three fox lengths between them. He dropped the prey. "You can take this back to the clan, it was your prey first," he said with a smile, his tail high in greeting. @firefly

It took a few minutes for Novapaw to catch her breath. By the time she did a cat stepped out from the other side of the bush's with the rabbit she had been chasing in her jaws. She knew it was herbs because she could see where her claws had raked against it's back causing it to bleed slightly. Her eyes widened as she realized who this cat was. It was non other then her leader Ravinestar. "Oh good morning Ravinestar." She lowered her head respectfully.
"No no it's fine. I have a squirrel buried a ways back that I can bring back. You made the kill you should bring it back Ravinestar." Her tail flicked constantly from nerves as she wondered what her leader was doing out here. Had she been looking for her? She had left camp without permission, but she was bringing prey back so surely she wasn't in trouble. Maybe he was just out here to hunt and burn some energy like herself? RAVINESTAR
"Ah so you have caught something," he mewed, beginning to bury his rabbit. He really wouldn't have minded if Novapaw had actually taken it in her name. "That's good. Needless to say, the clan needs it in Leaf-Fall."The gray tom paused for a moment, realizing something. Novapaw was alone; of course, apprentices were allowed to leave camp with permission, and he was sure she'd gotten it. However, just to check, Ravinestar lifted his head and glared at her directly. It was not a dead stare and it did not give off a feeling of sternness, he just sounded more serious. "Did you get permission to leave camp?" the RavineClan leader asked the apprentice. "Or at least let someone know where you went?"Doing both of those things was recommended, but doing at least the latter was mandatory for safety reasons. Novapaw was still young, she most certainly could get hurt, anything was possible. @firefly

Spoken Words Novapaw licked her chest proudly. "Yes I caught a squirrel as I was running through the trees. They think they're so safe from us up there but I lived in the trees before joining Ravineclan it's where I feel the most at home." Yes running through the trees could be dangerous if you didn't know what you where doing but she had taught herself how to hunt and climb trees. She hadn't joined Ravineclan until she was five almost six moons old by then she had been on her own for almost three moons. Ravinestar should know that it was her and Oliveheart who had found her. She had been hunting a bird in the trees. She had caught it and begun the climb down only to find her surrounded by the the patrol. "Yes that's why I headed out, I thought the elders would enjoy a nice treat for their morning meal."Oh no he was asking the one question she had hoped he wouldn't. She swallowed even though she had been with them for about three moons she still had trouble remembering to ask if she could leave camp. But who was she going to ask everyone but the guards had been asleep. Taking a deep breath she sighed and shook her head. "No when I left it had still been dark and everyone had been asleep. I couldn't fall back asleep, I had so much energy it was driving me insane so I decided to go out for a run and maybe even do some hunting. As for telling someone I did walk past the guards so they saw me head towards the forest. Everyone in camp knows how much I love running through the tree's I assumed they would realize that's where I'm going. Sorry Ravinestar."

RAVINESTAR
Ravinestar looked down at the young apprentice with disappointment, remaining still and silent as he listened to her explain herself. "It is good that the camp guards were able to see you leave, that is something," he said, with an edge in his voice that when deciphered one could not tell if he was being friendly, calm or strict. It was just stern and direct, a good chide. "You have the clan's thanks for catching prey, Novapaw, we always need food to feed us... but your safety comes first. I won't punish you this time, but please let someone know next time, even if you have to wake them up. Ask Oliveheart for example."Ravinestar waited for her response, flicking his ash gray tail patiently. @firefly

Novapaw perked up some as Ravinestar said that it was good that at least the camp guards had seen her head towards the forest. "Of course Ollie I may not wish to wake anyone but I'll always at least let someone see me heading off. Next time I'll let the camp guards know where I'm headed I promise." She nodded her head and kept her head downcast, she was lucky he wasn't going to punish her. If she wanted to be a warrior she would have to work harder and make sure she let someone know when she left camp. "I will Ravinestar I promise, I won't leave camp ever again unless Oliveheart or another warrior know you have my word." She smiled up at him her tail lashing back and forth.
She ran out of sight for one second to the tree she had buried the squirrel under and dug it up then raced back to Ravinestar and dropped it at his paws. "It's huge isn't it? You rarely see these big around this time of year. They stay high out of reach. I had to chase it through several trees before I finally caught it."
