RAVINESTAR
Ravinestar's paws still felt as if they were soaked with the blood of Obsidianstar, the now dead leader of ObsidianClan. RavineClan had gone to battle once again with their clan and when Obsidianstar had killed five of his warriors one after another, the gray tom rushed in and knew what he had to do. He couldn't be merciful anymore, lest his clanmates die. He sliced the jugular of the big black tom, the leader of ObsidianClan, and killed him, stripping him of all nine lives right then and there. Ravinestar climbed upon the Ravine Ledge and let his voice ring out over his clan. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather around below the Ravine Ledge for a clan meeting."Sincerely, Ravinestar wished that Obsidianstar did not have to be killed off. Ravinestar had shown him mercy and compassion many times, but the tom had thrown it in his face and pushed it too far too many times. This was the result.

Tigershade was in his den caring for the injured, among them was Novapaw. For her first battle she had done well though she hadn't gotten a few nasty cuts, a particularly bad one went across her left shoulder. It was deep and he could only assume the cat had gone for a death blow but she had dodged just in time to avoid a death strike but not fast enough to avoid getting wounded. He had just finished bandaging the last of the wounded when he heard the call of their leader. He stepped out of his den but didn't go far. There where some that where to injured to move and he wanted to stay close encase any cried out in pain or for help. He had poppy seeds for pain but didn't want to hand them out until he was sure it wouldn't do more damage then good. Some he gave them one others he didn't.
With a twitch of his ear he stared up at Ravinestar. They had been lucky their leader hadn't lost a life during this battle. Though they had lost many in this battle four just from Obsidianstar and another killed by his deputy. His tail lashed from side to side, they had won this battle but Obsidianclan would be back. They need to be better prepared for future attacks. What would Ravinestar say about all of this?

Spoken Words The battle had been fierce she had managed to chase off one only to be attacked from behind by another. She had twisted around and nipped at the cat, her teeth sinking into it's paw. She had heard a crunch when she had bit down harder but he hadn't even yowled in pain. He had just jerked the paw out of her mouth then aimed a swiped of his claws from his other paw at her throat. She had barely managed to dodge it. Instead of hitting her throat she had felt searing pain slice down her left shoulder. She could tell it was bad and was thankful it was her shoulder and not her throat for she knew she would surely be dead right now. Before she had been able to react she had heard the call to retreat run through Obsidianclan. The cat attacking her gave a hiss of anger and spat at her. "Remember this next time we meet. Next time I'll kill you and that's a promise." With that he had turned and fled with the rest of his clan. After that she had collapsed and passed out from loss of blood.
When she had woken up again she was in Tigershades den and he was wrapping cobwebs around her shoulder. Just as the medicine cat finished she heard Ravinestar's call to met. Getting up she limped after Tigershade. She was sure he would disprove but Novapaw wasn't about to miss out on this meeting. Even if she had to drag herself out of the den which thankfully she didn't have to. She laid down beside Tigershade panting a little from the exertion from just walking out of the den.WORDS: 000 TAGS: 000 NOTES: 000

RAVINESTAR
Ravinestar waited until a good amount of cats had gathered below. He also noticed that Tigershade was watching him from the medicine cat den, along with the injured Novapaw by his side. He thought she should not be using so much exertion, but he would leave that up to Tigershade to decide. Ravinestar stood tall and proud. "As you all know, we have won the battle against ObsidianClan once again and we have taken back the territory that was stolen from us," he began loudly so that every ear could hear him. "Obsidianstar is dead by my hand and his cats were forced to retreat. Consider it wonderful that we won and thank StarClan, but do not be glad at the means by which we have won; I do not take pride in killing the enemy, but rather in having mercy and compassion. There is nothing to be won by killing that one cannot win by simply defeating their enemies the proper way."Ravinestar paused, beginning to frown at the thought of what he had to say next. "The second thing I..." tears welled up in his eyes but he was sure not to let them show. "I take great displeasure in telling you all this, but our deputy Sagefur is dead. He was killed by an ObsidianClan cat... I will be choosing a new deputy at the next gathering."

Tigershade heard the sound of a cat coming from his den and knew it was Novapaw. He turned and looked at her, she should be lying in there resting and healing. But she had a right to hear this as well, after all, she had fought just as hard as any other warrior in Ravineclan even though she had only been an apprentice for two moons. SO he went back to listening to Ravinestar.
Yes, they won the battle but at what cost? They had lost warriors and even an apprentice and many had been injured not as badly as Novapaw thank starclan, it was like the cat fighting her had been trying to kill her. He heard cats cheering about our territory being taken back. A hiss rumbled through his chest. This was nothing to be cheering about. But the cheering quickly stopped at hearing Sagefur had been killed. At that Tigershade went back into his den where the body was, he was put in there so he could rub herbs through his fur. Now it was time for him to be brought out for his clan to say goodbye. Grabbing him he began to carry him out with the help of another warrior. The two set his body down in the center of camp. Tigershade brushed his nose against the deputy and whispered goodbye to him before stepping back. "Novapaw time to head back in, you should be resting."

Spoken Words Novapaw saw Tigershade look at her and knew what he was thinking or at least was pretty sure what he was thinking. That she should be inside resting. But she wasn't going inside until after the clan meeting and after she said goodbye to the deputy. She had seen his body being carried on the way back as she was helped back to camp. She had been on the verge of passing out from loss of blood. And she had eventually passed out for a while as Tigershade applied herbs and what not.
She listened quietly as her leader spoke, even as others cheered like she would have before this happened, she remained quiet with her head bowed. Novapaw could sense what was coming next. Hearing Ravinestar's voice break practically broke her heart. As Tigershade and another warrior went to fetch the body she heard a queen cry out at the news. It was Sagefur's mate, she had about a moon to go before her kits were born. She winced hating that the kits would have to grow up without a father. But she would be sure to teach them how great a warrior and deputy he had been.WORDS: 000 TAGS: 000 NOTES: 000 Honeyvoice heard the call from the clan leader and ran out from the nursery as quickly as her swollen belly would allow her. She couldn't wait to see Sagefur and qwell this horrid feeling she had in the pit of her stomach. As she stepped out of the nursery her eyes searched for the one she loved. She didn't see him but she did spot Tigershade and Novapaw. She gasped at the sight of Novapaw's injuries. Was that why she couldn't find Sagefur was he to badly injured to come out of the medicine den? She wanted to race over there and find out. But she forced herself to sit down and hear what her leader had to say first. Obsidianstar was dead, she felt a wave of relief maybe there would finally be some peace for her clan. As Ravinestar began to speak once more a feeling of dread and horror filled her. Dead, killed by Obsidianclan cat. She didn't even realize when it happened but at some point her mouth had opened wide in a loud echoing wale of pain. It echoed for several minutes blocking everything else out for what felt like several minutes but was probably just several seconds before she collapsed in a dead faint. The last thing she saw before she passed out was Tigershade and another warrior carrying her beloved Sagefur's body out into the clearing.

RAVINESTAR
Ravinestar gazed down at his paws in silence for a long time after his statement about Sagefur's fate. The poor she-cat who had been mate to his deputy, Honeyvoice, was heavy with his kits and the thought of her going on without him and her kits being without a father made his soul ache. He promised himself that he would try his best to be there for those kits, his friend Sagefur would want him to. He would teach everything he felt Sagefur would have. Finally, once everything died down a bit and his deputy's body was brought down into camp, he looked over the clearing again at his clan mates, who were wounded and downtrodden, too grieved to properly celebrate their victory. "I will not choose another deputy yet. I will announce my choice at the next gathering," he said with a stone hard voice. "Tonight we will share tongues with Sagefur one last time before we bury him in the morning. May he hunt successfully all of his nights in StarClan's hunting grounds. As for ObsidianClan, hopefully now with a new leader our clan will be safer in the future."With that, the gray tom, heavy with grief that was settling in, leaped from the ledge and went to lay beside his old friend. He pressed his nose to Sagefur's pelt and closed his eyes, drawing in his scent.
