Jadefall blinked open his eyes and perked up his ears from the medicine cat den to hear the voice of Ravinestar, his brother, calling a clan meeting. His leg had healed well, except for a tiny problem... it was crippled. So when the light gray tabby tom went to stand it felt so unnatural, as he now had no use of his back left leg. He spat a curse and twitched his tail in annoyance and self-pity.
He had been a warrior and was worse off than an elder at this point. He could kill Foxshade, the new ObsidianClan deputy, for doing this to him... he could also kill him for murdering Sagefur, the former RavineClan deputy.
He limped awkwardly to the edge of the medicine den and sat down to listen to the announcement that Ravinestar was going to make.

Ravinestar called a clan meeting and when the cats of his clan had gathered, he began to speak, eying a black and white tom with one leg who had been a kittypet. "I believe this ceremony is far overdue, but has been delayed due to the events as of late," he said with a bright look. "Today we will gain a new apprentice, one with a past that ask you all to overlook and to accept him as a part of RavineClan."When he heard no cat protest, he went on gladly. "Moby, do you promise to uphold our warrior code and defend RavineClan with your life if necessary?"

Moby's paws itched with excitement. He glanced around at the cats surrounding him. This is what he had always dreamed of. To prove his worth to the world. His eyes sparkled excitedly and emotionally as he listened to Ravinestar talk. There was something special about the leader. Something he admired from the moment he met him. He looked over at a silver looking tom with white socks, whom was smiling up at Ravinestar. Moby tilted his head, before quickly looking back to Ravinestar when he heard him say to uphold the code. Moby nodded, dipping his head. Steadying his voice, he replied. "I do" he mewed smiling.

Ah. So his brother the leader was naming a new apprentice... he squinted his eyes and saw that the tom had a collar on him and recognized him as the kittypet that had been found on the border the other day. "Hmmm... hope he realizes what he's getting into," Jadefall furrowed his brows, negatively. He did not notice his missing leg.
He wasn't acting as his normal self, he didn't feel like his normal self... he felt full of rage and cynicism. He'd lost his ability to use his back leg, what good was he now? He'd never be able to mentor another apprentice again, for Ravinestar usually considered him for apprentices... surely he would not now.

Ravinestar smiled down at the black and white tom. "Then today I name you an apprentice of RavineClan. Moby, you joined our clan with an nontraditional warrior name, so I hereby gift you a new name in the presence of our warrior ancestors, that they may hear and approve my choice."Ravinestar thought for a second and then decided upon the perfect name for this young cat. "From this day forward, until he has earned his warrior name, this apprentice will be called Barleypaw."He glanced at his brother at the entrance of the medicine cat den, a look of compassion and consideration filling his yellow gaze. Jadefall would be the perfect mentor for this tom; they both had lost the use of their back leg, perhaps encourage one another in their conditions... and confide in each other about anything the clan had to say rude about their physical traits. "Jadefall," he began, catching the tom's shocked attention. "You will be Barleypaw's mentor. Pass on to him all the honorable things you have learned and teach him the way of a great warrior.""BARLEYPAW! BARLEYPAW! BARLEYPAW!" the clan cheered.

Novapaw woke up in the medicine cat's den a little groggy, she had been unable to fall back asleep last night and had tossed and turned most of the night. Finally, the voice of Ravinestar echoed all around calling for the clan to gather. She got up and padded out of the Tigershades den. She still had a bit of a limp but it was getting better and better every day. And all her other wounds and injuries had healed. Hopefully, Tigershade would release her any day now to get back to her training.
As she limped out of the den she spotted everyone gathered around a new cat. She spotted Jadefall and automatically felt bad for him. For unlike her who would get complete use of her leg once it was completely healed, Jadefall's leg was crippled and he would never be able to use it again.
So they were accepting a new cat into the clan. Some tom named Moby was soon named Barleypaw and... Jadefall was made his warrior. She smiled, she was happy for him but wondered how he would get around when he had to drag one leg around like that. She let out a sigh wishing she was ready for training.

Barleypaw's eyes lit up excitedly, and he bowed his head shyly hearing the clan cheer for him. "Thank you, Ravinestar" he mewed gratefully. "I wont let you down" he promised. He peered at Jadefall, and pricked his ears excitedly, seeing the tom had a similar disability. He felt bad for the tom, but smiled happily at the same time. He was getting a chance to prove himself worthy, and his paws itched with anticipation.

RAVINESTAR
Ravinestar gave his clan a nod and ended the meeting, retreating back to his den, leaving his deputy to organize patrols and such. Ravinestar had a meeting later... he was so looking forward to it. His tail twitched with very much excitement. Notes: Poor Jadefall XD

"Am I... really this kit's mentor?!" he exclaimed to himself in disbelief, but his voice was no more than a whisper that he could barely hear himself. How could that be? Did his brother Ravinestar really believe that he was in any shape to train an apprentice?
He knew clan customs. Jadefall was expected to get up and move toward his new apprentice Barleypaw and touch noses with him, then the whole training session and such which was an entirely different challenge that confused the light gray warrior. 'If I go out there, the whole clan will see how weak and vulnerable I am...' he thought, flattening his ears uncomfortably. 'But if I don't go out, they'll see me as a shrewd fox-brain.'
Sighing with annoyance at Ravinestar for making him do this, Jadefall stood up awkward because of his dull leg and walked forward from the medicine den, dragging his lame leg with him like a dead body that had been attached to him for no reason other to embarrass and irritate him.
He did not make eye contact with any cat, for fear of seeing them cast their judgment on him. The pain in his heart was unreal; he felt alone, like he knew none of his clan mates and could trust none of them, save Ravinestar but he had only gone and made it worse for him.
Jadefall blankly touched noses with Barleypaw, barely looking him in the face, and flicked his tail. "We shall train once Tigershade our medicine cat releases me from the medicine den officially. Congratulations on Ravinestar making you part of our clan..."

Barleypaw watched his new mentor come over to him. He smiled, but looked at him in a knowing way. He knew the feeling of fear, of being cast aside because of a fault. The smaller tom stood up and gently touched noses with Jadefall and smiled listening to him, twitching his ears. "Hey, its okay" hw whispered. "I feel the same way" he confessed looking at him with his bright yellow eyes. He glanced to his own back leg, then back to Jadefall with a smile. "I look forward to training with you, Jadefall" he purred humbly.

Jadefall was surprised that his new apprentice was so understanding of him. He didn't want to be the way he was now, he wanted it to just be a horrible dream that he would wake up from soon. Jadefall's heart grew with compassion and he became double-minded, being angry and spiteful over what had happened to him and at the same time wanting to thank this young cat for his kind words.
"I-I'll be alright," he sighed quietly, finally looking at Barleypaw in the eyes, "Hey, someone should remove that collar for you, now that you're a clan cat, want me to do it?"

The tom blinked and looked at his collar. He fell silent for a long moment. He remembered his kind house-folk, and how they loved him. He wished he could say goodbye, but they wouldn't understand. He twitched his ears, giving a slow nod. "..Yes, yes please" he mewed lifting his head to show the collar to him. The name Moby glinting on the front of it.

JADEFALL - RAVINECLAN WARRIOR
| Jadefall tried to shake off his feelings of guilt and depression, and smiled at the young tom. "Very well then," he said, reaching forward and clamping onto his color with his fangs. He place paw inside the opposite end of the collar and ripped with all his strength, until finally the former kittypet's noose snapped.
The collar dangled from Jadefall's teeth, and the silver tabby dropped it at the paws of his apprentice. "You can bury this wherever you like," he mewed. |

The young apprentice peered at the collar, looking at his reflection in the tag. A look of sadness shone through for a moment. Then, he nodded with confidence, and picked it up smiling. "Ill take it outside the camp" he mewed, stumbling slightly with his legs.
