Setting: Nightclan Meadow Bordering The Spruce Forest Time: High Noon Nighstar nodded her head as she passed the guards guarding the camp. The sun was almost high so the sun high patrol would be heading out soon. But for some odd reason Nightstar found she couldn't sleep for the life of her. She had been tossing and turning all morning, until she finally gave up and decided to patrol the borders on her own. She decided to leave the safety of the forest and go into the meadows and check the borders there. For some reason they where calling to her. She walked along the border of the forest stopping from time to time to give a sniff before continuing. She would leave marking to the patrol. Finally the tree's thinned out and the meadow came in to site. At it's sight instead of her muscles relaxing as she expected they became more intense. What was it? Slowly she began sniffing around the border as she walked very carefully looking for any signs of danger. Her eye sight though strong, was not as strong as her night vision. So she was relying a lot on her sense of smell. But so far nothing, there was no cats here not even from her own clan that she could tell. But there was still a lot of border to go. But she had yet to reach the border the lie next to a spruce forest so she continued on her way. At one point Nightstar stopped at one of the springs running through the meadows and bent her head to drink. The water was icy cold and she gave her head a shake when she raised it. With her thirst quenched she continued her journey to the border of spruce and meadow. Upon reaching it she froze and sniffed the air. There was the scent of cat, that was new. And it wasn't a single cat though old it smelled like at least two or three different cats had marked the other side of the border. Could another group have moved into the spruce forest? Well if they did as long as they stayed on their side she would cause no trouble for them. Nightstar began to head forward keeping aware as she patrolled the border. She would have to warn her clan mates to keep a close eye on this border maybe set up a second patrol for during the day time.

Loyalty is all that matters now
Oliveheart yawned deeply. The time was Sun High and she hadn't even gone on a patrol yet! The brown she-cat bristled her fur, panicked that she was late and had slept in too long. She raced into the RavineClan camp and talked with the deputy. The deputy of the clan told her that more prey was needed for the clan and that he was going to lead a hunting patrol, inviting her to come along. "Would you like to tag along?" "Of course!" she said readily in response, then followed them out of the ravine and up the ledge into the spruce forest. The scents never failed to make her chest fill with glory for how wonderful it smelled. Oliveheart scented a rabbit nearby and told the hunting patrol that she would catch up them later, stalking away into the undergrowth to chase down the piece of prey. "There you are..." the green eyed she-cat snarled, then leaped over to where she'd seen the rabbit. However, she missed and the rabbit darted across the forest floor and Oliveheart thundered after it, until she realized that she was on the verge of crossing the border into unknown territory. Oliveheart skidded to a stop and remained completely still. She was so quiet that she could hear her own heartbeat and the blood rushing in her ears; she sniffed the air... the scent of outsider cats stung her nose, and their numbers were large from what she could tell. 'Ravinestar needs to know about this,' she thought determinedly.

Nightstar continued walking along the border of the new group and hers when the scent of rabbit reached her. She licked her lips anticipating the kill just as it darted out of the spruce forest with eyes wide in fear. She didn't notice the cat chasing it as she leaped at it once it crossed into her territory. Pinning it with one paw she bit into into it's throat killing it. Lifting her head her tongue darted up cleaning the blood around her mouth. As she stood up her eyes widened as she spotted a small brown cat staring over at her. Her fur stood up and she grabbed the rabbit and dragged it farther from the border. "Who are you?" She called out with as much dignity as she could muster as she stood ramrod straight with her tail reaching for the sky.
Was this one of the cats of the new group she had scented? If it was she owed the she-cat a favor for chasing her favorite prey into her territory. "Are you with that new group bordering ours?" Nightclan had only been formed fore a moon or two so they where pretty new themselves. But she was a leader and refused to give her name and clan first. It was her right to speak last if she so wished. As she waited the scent of the rabbit made her stomach give a small growl reminding her she hadn't eaten since high moon. But for now she had to push those thoughts to the side so she wouldn't get caught on guard by an outsider. She was wishing she had brought one of her warriors with her to run back and alert the camp if needed. Who knew how many lay hidden in or up the trees. But as long as there was only one she could easily take it on if she had to.

Loyalty is all that matters now
Oliveheart's heart skipped a beat when she saw the black she-cat. Her fur bristled and stood on end, and she lashed her tail in a territorial defensive way. Was she about to trespass? That was all the brown warrior could think of. However, her thoughts on the situation changed when the outsider asked if she was part of the new group bordering hers. Was this she-cat part of a group of rogues? Had she never heard of RavineClan, the most powerful clan as of the present time?
"I am a RavineClan cat and this is our clan's border," Oliveheart said rigidly. "Are you from another group?"
This she-cat was showing no signs of wanting to attack, but neither did Foxshade; she had learned her lesson, and had learned to always be ready for an attack whenever. Oliveheart would defend her clan if the she-cat decided to attack.
For now though, she felt talking it out was the best option.

[googlefont="Griffy"][googlefont="Abel"] SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY She stood about three or four tail lengths from the border and not planning on going any closer. She couldn't stop wondering why she had never noticed this border before. They had border patrols three times a night and once during the day. Unless? Is it possible that the clan extended their border recently? That would explain a lot, hopefully they wouldn't extend any farther into her clans territory.
Ravineclan? At these words her ears stood up straight along with her fur. Yes she had heard of that clan but she had no idea how close she was to them. This began to make her nervous for her clan was still relatively new with less then ten cats. (NPC) "Well Ravineclan cat I believe you have yet to give me your name and as leader of my clan I believe that is my right."
Nightstar forced her fur to lay flat and she even raised a paw and licked it before swiping it over her head a few times. Ok so she was now bordering Ravineclan. Scratch what she thought earlier. These cats where day cats unlike her clan. So she would set up a border for early morning, high sun and late afternoon. There there would also still be the dusk, high moon and dawn patrols. That should be enough to keep the clan safe. And maybe she would set a couple cats up in the tree's during the day to keep watch as well. When she got back to camp she would be sure to discuss all of this with her clan.

Loyalty is all that matters now
Oliveheart flicked her tail. 'She's the leader? Didn't know that there was another group of cats around,' she thought, slightly narrowing her eyes. 'I don't believe I have heard of them, and I don't think Ravinestar has either. We've never met these cats before.' It comforted her heart that this she-cat wasn't behaving like a savage right now, for maybe they had a similar attitude that the clan cats had and wouldn't try anything savage like a lot of the rogue cats. "I suppose it is fair that I share that with you," the small brown she-cat said curtly, with no aggression edging her voice. "My name is Oliveheart, and I am a warrior." This was the clan leader of NightClan? She had to admit that she felt a bit intimidated, but she could not let that show. Now all she needed to do was get this leader's name. "It is news to RavineClan that there are clan cats bordering us on this side of our territory. Unless my leader states otherwise, we come in peace as due our warrior code."Oliveheart slightly relaxed her muscles. "What is your name?" she asked calmly. @nightstar

[googlefont="Abel"] SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Nightstar's tail flicked from side to side as she patiently waited to hear the she-cats name. Was she a warrior? A deputy? She couldn't be the leader she would of said so surely. Ah Oliveheart, to be given the suffix heart meant she must be a caring and gentle cat in her clan. But that didn't mean anything to outsiders. "Well Oliveheart, I am glad it was I who met you here. Who know what would of happened if it was one of my warriors."
Hearing that this cat's clan comes in peace set her at ease. She feared they might try and chase them out. She really seemed to relax hearing that. "I am glad to hear that, we to come in piece. Our warrior code states that as well unless something happens to force my paw to change that." Which she really hoped would not happen any time soon while her clan was so small.
And there was the question what was her name. Lifting her head high and standing tall with her tail pointed to the sky she spoke in a clear and fluid voice. "I am leader and creator of Nightclan. You may call me Nightstar." She smiled delicately at the she-cat before sitting back down. "We have been here for about two moons. And this whole time not one of my warriors nor myself have scented you near our borders. Which leads me to suspect that your clan must of extended your border recently."

Loyalty is all that matters now
To be very honest, Oliveheart relaxed now, though still remained alert, not trusting this cat as she was from another clan. There was clearly a misunderstanding of some kind between this she-cat's clan and RavineClan. These were their borders... well, they had extended further out recently. Oliveheart was going to guess that this was the culprit of this situation. Yes, she supposed that was a good thing that Oliveheart had met the leader instead of one of her warriors, for if a warrior had become territorial with Oliveheart she surely would have attacked and attempted to drive them out. When the leader announced that they come in peace as well, Oliveheart smiled. "Ours in fact states the same," she commented approvingly. "We are no savages, we are willing to talk rather than to shed blood."When Nightstar mentioned the change in borders, Oliveheart felt as if she had called it. Though, it may just be hard to explain. It might make her clan look weak if Oliveheart were to say that they had extended their borders because of a loss of territory to some extent ObsidianClan in a turf battle. "Ah yes, we in fact have extended our borders up this way recently, that must be the reason for this confusion," she answered calmly, sitting down and flicking her tail slowly. Smiling, she went on, "Our clan has been getting a lot bigger lately and we needed the extra space to support us. Does this in any way hurt your clan? If it does, we had no idea."

[googlefont="Griffy"][googlefont="Abel"] SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Speech This cat Oliveheart seemed nice enough, maybe a peace could be made between their clans. As long as they stayed in their borders she saw no problem with sharing borders with Ravineclan. Maybe she could ask her to fetch her leader so they could speak? The rest of her clan wouldn't be up for hours still, and the border patrol would probably start from the other end so they had at least an hour before they reached this spot.A sigh escaped her upon hearing their code was the same as theirs about trespassing territories. "Nor are we, we are warriors who respect our warrior code that Bastet created." She looked up, even though the sun was high she could still see the moon but just barely which was why her clan believed that The Great Moon Cat was stronger and all around better then The Great Sun Cat. For what did the sun do as night began to approach? It went running with it's tail between it's legs in fear of the great at mighty Bastet.Nightstar smiled and her tail curled, she had been correct, they had extended borders recently. "Ah I thought so we would have noticed other wise." As long as they didn't extend into her territory she didn't care where they went. But the second they set paw in her land she would attack as was their warrior code to protect their territory and clan with their very lives. "That is understandable, when a clan grows so must it's land. But understand this," She stood up and took a step towards her and looked her in the eyes. "As soon as you set a whisker in our territory we will be on you like fleas on a dog."

Loyalty is all that matters now
Oliveheart was glad this had not turned into a confrontation or a border battle. If the other clan was peaceful, what a blessing from StarClan, they sure did not need more enemies, dealing with ObsidianClan was more than enough.
"I assure you we will respect the border that stands between our clans, you will never need to attack us," assured the small brown she-cat.
Perhaps Nightstar would like to meet her leader? What was the best course of action for that... "Our leader, Ravinestar, holds a gathering at the Shimmering Heights every full moon with the other clans. I assume you will be welcome there. There you may discuss with him whatever you wish."
If this she-cat wished to see him sooner, she had but to ask and Oliveheart would incorporate that into her report to Ravinestar, delivering her request to him.

[googlefont="Griffy"][googlefont="Abel"] SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Speech Nightstar was to find that this clan was as peaceful as hers, when Oliveheart vowed they wouldn't pass the border she let out a sigh of relief and her fur once more lay flat and she took a step back and sat back down. "Good, I can promise you the same thing. I will call a meeting with my clan as soon as I get back and will promise punishment to any who crosses the border." Her whiskers twitch, she did not need an all out battle right now. Her clan was small and weak but there was no way she was about to admit that to a bunch of strangers. Her ears pricked up as Oliveheart told her about a meeting her leader held. But they flattened when she mentioned the full moon. "That is not possible for I would want to take my Medicine Cat with me and on the full moon it is required that she go to The Great Moon Rock to dream with The Great Moon God Bastet. I will have to discuss this with my clan and speak with Bastet before I can give you an answer. Tonight me and my medicine cat shall go and dream. I will meet you and your leader back here in two days time and tell you if Bastet blesses this meeting of yours or not." Nightstar looked up at the sky closing her eyes most of the way as the brightness of day hurt her eyes. "The Sun God begins to descend and Bastet begins to waken. I must go now so we may meet before the moon is high. It was a pleasure meeting you Oliveheart please send my wishes to meet with your leader and yourself two day's time when the sun is at it's highest point."

Loyalty is all that matters now
It was unofficial but it looked like the clan finally had an ally. This clan would be their first ally, and only ally for the moment until some other clan emerged from the shadows. It was good. Nightstar would go back to her clan and tell them of the presence of another clan. Oliveheart was contemplating warning the black she-cat about the threat of ObsidianClan and that they may go after her, but she decided not to and left it up to Ravinestar to announce.
Well that was interesting. Their clan definitely lived differently than hers. They even seemed to have different rituals and ancestors, or gods even. But that was a fine suggestion, and Oliveheart was sure to bring it back to her leader Ravinestar. "I will relay the message. Ravinestar will be here to discuss with you whatever it is that leaders discuss," she said kindly.
"I hope that you receive permission from your ancestors to meet with the clans on the full moon," said Oliveheart, standing up and turning to face her clan's forest, still holding eye contact with Nightstar. "I too must go, the clan must wonder where I am by now. Good luck and may StarClan light your path."
With that she was off. Oliveheart wondered if she should have mentioned StarClan to the leader, but hopefully it wouldn't confuse her. The brown she-cat headed back to camp to relay the NightClan leader's message to Ravinestar.
@nightstar Finished! ^-^
