Time Of Day: High Sun

Weather: Clear but Cold

Lakepaw left camp fairly early when the sun was just beginning to touch the sky. She had wanted to go swimming to bad but she knew it wasn't safe to go swimming this time of year. But maybe, maybe just seeing the river would help sooth the need to swim? Or so she hoped as she silently padded out of camp. "I'm going to go hunting by the river," she told one of the guards as she left camp. The cat gave her a curt nod as she dashed off running as fast as she could.

Her legs stretched as far as they could go before snapping back as she ran towards the river. Lakepaw had been an apprentice for three moons now and knew the area like the back of her paw almost. When she finally reached the river a shiver of excitement ran down her spine. She dashed forward then slid to a stop right before she hit the water. Her paws stopped in inch from the water. She looked down into it's depths and her eyes sparkled. Maybe one quick dip, if anyone asked she could say she fell in while fishing. She would need to catch at least one fish to prove that's what she had been doing. Lakepaw waited silently until a good size fish came by, she swiped her paw quickly threw the water snagging on the fish. She quickly pulled it out of the water and killed it. Then with one quick look around to make sure no one was watching she dove into the water.

It was ice cold underwater but it felt good, it didn't seem to affect her. As soon as her head was under gills formed on her neck and her back feet began to stretch and meld with her tail until they formed on large tail kind of like a snake's but flat to catch the water so she could control where she sent. When under water she was fast and graceful. Oh, it felt so good to be in the water again. Lakepaw swam for about ten maybe fifteen minutes before she realized she needed to leave before someone came along. She had gone deep maybe twenty feet or so so it took her a minute to reach the surface. But as soon as her head hit the air the gills disappeared and her leg and tail separated and returned to normal.

Whisper was looking for something to eat. He had found a mouse already and thought it a good idea to biring back something else for the clan. He rolls his shoulders and starts towards the river.

The water was flowing camly and he saw what looked like a huge fish swimming through the water. THen a cat's head popped out and he squints at the cat. Walking over he says "Swimming?" He snorts as he looks at her wet pelt

Lake's eyes widened as she spotted Whisker as she turned to shore. "Me? Swimming? No way. I uh fell in trying to catch a fish. I manage to catch that one before I fell in." She began to paddle to the shore before climbing out. As she climbed onto shore her fur was barely wet there were a few drops on her coat which she quickly shook off but it looked like she had never been in the water. She bent and sniffed the fish she had caught. "This one will feed a few cats don't you think it's really big." Maybe if she changed the subject Whisper would forget about her being in the water.

He narrows his eyes at her as she swims towards him, "you seem quite good at swimming for someone so young." He looks down at the fish "yes, I suppose so." His gaze hardens and he mutters "what are you hiding" He reaches out and and finds that this cat has something wrong with it. He shakes his head and with his mind grabs onto her throat, he squezzes gently so that it feels like she can only get JUST enough air to breathe

Lakepaw turned and smiled at her clan mate "Me and my sister Riverpaw used to practice before we joined the clan. We love swimming and we can both fish very good. Isn't that a good thing? It adds strength to the clan." Her eyes widen slightly when he asks her in a low mumbled voice what she was hiding. "Why would you think I..." Her words were cut off when he used his powers to grab her throat leaving just barely enough room for her to breath. "I-I... don't... understand... why... why are you... doing this?" She choked out, fear running through her as she began to become terified for her life.

He looks at her and frowns "But, I'm not doing anything." He says with a hint of fake confusion. "Is there something wrong?" He takes a step towards her and puts on a look of concern. "But I think that lying does not add strength to the clan." Now he probes her body with his mind and grabs her back right leg. He narrows his eyes and tries to send a painful spasam through her leg

Her eyes glare at him, she has heard of his strange powers but had never been on the other side of them. Maybe, just maybe if she can get back in the water and swim away his powers would have no effect on him. "Of course there is something wrong you know what you're doing" Lakepaw took a step back closer to the water. "Fine I went for a swim so what? What's wrong with that? I like to swim." She took another step back just as she felt a sharp pain lance through one of her back legs making her cry out. "I'm your clan mate why are you doing this to me?" She limped backwards and finally she felt the water splash up behind her from the river.

He tilts his head ever so slightly and expressionless he says "Well, fine then, I will be honest with you first. It's called Odynokinisis, or simply pain manuplation." He takes a deep breath. "Since you refuse to tell me what it is you are hiding you can be my... test mouse. Now i have never done this so it may be a bit... uncomfterbale." As she splashes into the water an idea forms. He digs his paws into the dirt and takes a deep breath. He reaches out again letting go of her leg and this time he aims for her brain. "water..." he mumbles. "Your love... now turn to fear." He starts to chant as the idea has fully come to him "Water water you hold dear, now it is your greatest... fear." He pulls away from heer mind and he had tried to make her feel mental fear/pain whenever she was in water. (i'm so sorry... I had to... I'll make it go away later lol)

Novapaw felt the pressure on her leg let go and let out a sigh of relief. This was her chance she turned to dive into the water just as she felt something in her head. She heard the words not with her ears but inside her telling her to fear water. She smiled, nothing could ever turn her love for the water into a fear that was something she held dear to her heart. "Nice try,' she mewed softly. She sighed though and took a step closer to the water and all of a sudden fear froze her. No, no why was she afraid? Water was where she belonged it was her true home. She began to shake. "F-Fine you w-want to kn-know my s-s-secret then take away my f-f-fear of water and I-I-I'll show you."

Whisper narrows his eyes at her and he says "How do I know you won't just... dive in and swim away?" He thinks for a moment and he narrows his eyes and focuses. He tries, "get away from the water." he says through gritted teeth. He lifts his head up and his eyes open in shock. "I can't... I can't" Now his eyes glint with fear as he relizes he can't fully control his power

" My sister is a member of this clan, if I run away I'll never be accepted back into the clan again and I love my clan. I am loyal to it, and I promises I will go in and dip underwater and you will see everything and know my secret." But not my sisters, she will show hers but he would not know her sisters. She wold rather be terrified of swimming for the rest of her life than betray her sister. Closing her eyes she fought the fear that he used to control her. When he said he couldn't control it that gave her hope that she could snap herself out of it. Ignoring his order to get away from the water she turned and jumped into the water. And as soon as she refused to be afraid of the one thing she loved beside her sister the fear disappeared there was like a snap in her head. A smile spread across her face as she hit the water. As soon as her head was underwater once more her back legs and tail became one forming a large fin, her two front paws became webbed and gills formed on her neck. She took a deep breath and sighed. Oh it was so good to be underwater again. She wanted to swim around forever but she had made a promise not to flee. So she stayed just below the water and swam circles so Whisper could see. After she was sure he had seen her she rose out of the water. "Now you know my secret. I was afraid to show anyone beside my sister for fear that they would fear me and think I was some kind of monster."

Whisper's eyes open wide in suprise, respect, pain, and fear. "You... What have you done to me? Was your secret really worth this?" He looks and sees her tail? His body is racked with pain and he focuses on controlling his power. his body convulses as his power is overloaded and he relaxes. "Nobody has ever overcome me like that." Struggling to his feet he hears voices in his mind and pawsteps. "I'm,... impressed" He shakes his head and he says "I don't think I ever want somebody to win over me like that... that was bad." He takes a breath and tries to clear his mind of the endless voices.

Lakepaw tilted her head in the water confused. "What did I do?" She paddled closer to the shore and climbed out once again. Her fur as dry as if she had never gone in. "See I told you I wouldn't run away." She was still confused about what he was going on about. Worth what? All she did is refuse to let her fear control her. Before her eyes, his body began to shake. "Are you ok? Should I get the medicine cat? I can be quick." Yea he had been cruel to her but he was her clan mate and she was a loyal Torchclan member. .....Wait.... she had over come him? She thought she had only overcome the fear. Her worry and fear for him turned to pride when he said he was impressed with her, but was there a hint of fear in his eyes as well? "I do apologize I didn't mean to hurt you. I just love swimming so much I couldn't bare being afraid of it so I fought the fear in my head, I didn't think it would hurt you..." She presses against him until he got his balance back. "Is there anything I can do to help you?"

He shakes his head vigirously. "NO! just LEAVE!" He yells not even directed at her, he was talking to the boices in his head.

"What..." His head is freed from the clutchs of the voices and he looks up at her. "Did you hear that?" He asks. " they were so loud" He looks at her as his body shivvers he backs away and leans on a tree. "What did you do? Are you... are you sure you can only... only swim?"

Lakepaw shrank back as he yelled at her to leave causing her to flinch. She hadn't meant to hurt him, maybe... just maybe Torchclan wasn't meant for her after all? But she couldn't leave her sister was here. Tears began to well up in her eyes. Why did he hate her so much? What did she ever do to earn the treatment he had given her today?

"H..Hear what?" Her voice stuttered and she began to shake from fear of Whisper. She was confused she hadn't heard anything but him yelling at her. "I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WHY DON'T YOU BELIEVE ME?" Was she sure she could only swim? Yes..no...she didn't know. "I... I... I don't kn... know. I... I know when I dive under water my front legs turn into fins and my back legs and tail meld together forming a strong flattish tail. But other then that that's all I know I can do."
