The night was crisp with the scent of crushed herbs and flowing water. The half-moon glowered down at the world as it slept peacefully... or, at least, most of it did. A certain chocolate-and-cream apprentice was amusing herself by blinking from one side of the river to another, giggling as drops of water land on her ankles. As she does so, she is reminded of her twoleg owners throwing her out for being the spawn of the devil. Her happy demeanour is darkened and she stops for a moment, face clouded with anger. It wasn't her fault she was born like this, with the ability to blink forward! She wasn't the one who gifted herself with a flash of blue light every time she broke the time barrier! With a lash of her tail, she breathes out slowly and calms down. Her energy depleted, she begins to trudge back to camp, her tail dragging. She doesn't notice the crunching of leaves and pawsteps near her.

[Storm]

Puddleheart's breath came in quick ragged clumps as she ran from the camp. Honestly, she was tired of being out of shape. Although her back legs were sturdy and quite muscular, the rest of her was scrawny and limp. She was determined to change that. It was something she was going to change about herself this moon. Then she couldn't be teased about the fact she always ran out of breath first.

The golden Persian froze as she heard the depressed sigh of a lonely cat. Her breath caught in her throat. Her own goals could wait. A cat was sad, and needed cheering up. That was all that mattered. Puddleheart nodded to herself firmly, and turned around to catch up with the cat. She hung back slightly, so she could recognize the cat before she greeted them. She inhaled deeply, and smiled warmly at the familiar scent of Quickpaw.

"Good night Quickpaw! How are you doing today? I hope you are doing fantastic, because you certainly don't deserve to be sad!" she chimed trotting to be side by side with the apprentice.

Quickpaw's Siamese head jerks up in surprise as a happy voice reaches her ears. Her head tilts as she sifts through her memory bank and tries to connect the voice to a cat but can't until the Persian steps forward. She hears the intake of breath and does so as well, and then manages a smile when Puddleheart's scent reaches her nose. "Puddleheart, luv!" she says happily but softly, not wanting to wake the night. "I was faring pretty nice, if I do say so myself, until I started to remember the past, hm?" she says, and while her tone is questioning her stormy blue eyes are not. "Y'know, the usual Twoleg drama. And, luv, I dare say that I wasn't the one who gave myself my power, right?" her tail droops slightly but she smiles up at Puddleheart. "Why were you wandering around, Puddy?" She wasn't entirely sure where that nickname had come from, but she decided to roll with it.

Puddleheart noted the smallest pause that Quickpaw took before the apprentice recognized her. She knew she shouldn't have thought too much of it, but it bothered her. Normally, she was the happy uplifting cat, but sometimes she could look into things too deeply. She flicked an ear at Quickpaw's response. She turned her head to the apprentice and placed her tail on her shoulder.

"Oh you poor dear! Don't hang on your past. Focus on your future, which I know will be bright." she meowed stepped to the sad she-cat. "But if you need a shoulder to lean on, or someone to talk to.. I'm here for you." she confirmed.

She smiled down as the apprentice smiled up at her, and the perfect timing widened her smile. The question caught her off-guard. She did not want to admit why she was there. Although she did really like the nickname. A silly smile crossed her face. "Well, Quicky, nah I can't call you that.. hmm how about Quincy? Kinda quirky.. but I like it." she laughed. "Anyways, I was just trying to become more fit."

"Why are you out here tonight?"

Quickpaw's mouth twitches at Puddleheart's promise, and she smiles at the ground. "Thanks, luv." she says softly. "Quincy? That's great!" she purrs, then laughs at the golden Persian's bluntness. "Oh, darlin', you always need to be the fittest to be the best! Although I don't think I should be the one talking~" she says, laughing again. "Couldn't sleep. Too many things happening in my head. I was just playing by the Spring." the Siamese says, grinning.
